Teagueduino

The Arduino project offers microcontroller that are really simple to use and program, but the Teagueduino made a extension for the Arduino that enables users to easily connect sensors and actuators without soldering to the microcontroller and program it using a kind of drag’n’drop style of programming.

Der Kritzler

This artrobot reminded me of Hektor, basically the same working principle, but on a larger scale and using spray cans as medium. The big difference is that Der Kritzler is build using open source materials (microcontroller, software) and the creators of Hektor made their own PCBs.

Zürich Langstrasse 360

Zürich Langstrasse 360

The Swiss national (German) television made a series of documentaries about the Langstrasse in Zürich, it’s accompanied by a website that offers a kind of Streetview look on the Langstrasse, with short interviews with some of the residents.

MOVE

This is the first (and I think best) of a series of 3 movies, made as they put it by: 3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ….into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films…

Internet around the world

Actually, the clip above is showing the retweets about the earthquake in Japan earlier this year. But it also show which parts of the world are connected to the internet (assuming that the percentage of Twitter users around the globe is roughly equal). It’s incredible that the whole continent of Africa is a blank spot on the map. Hopefully, Africa’s citizens will be connected to the internet soon, hence it’ll boost the level of education.
